Applicants should meet the age, education, training and medical requirements applicable to the position. Officer and specialised roles may require additional certificates, qualifications and experience.
A valid passport, Seafarer/CDC document, applicable STCW certificates, medical fitness certificate and relevant educational/competency certificates are generally required. Additional documents may be required depending on the vessel and position.
Yes, the applicable STCW safety-training certifications are generally required for seafarers. The exact courses depend on the rank, position and type of vessel.
Yes. Candidates must meet the applicable seafarer medical fitness standards and obtain a valid medical certificate from an authorised/approved medical practitioner.
Not necessarily. Some entry-level positions may accept candidates without prior sea service, while officer and experienced positions generally require relevant sea time and competency certificates.
A valid passport is generally required for international seafaring. A valid CDC/Seafarer’s Book is also required where applicable, depending on the position and flag-state requirements.
Yes. Positions such as Master, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer and other officer ranks require the appropriate Certificate of Competency (CoC), required training and qualifying sea service.
